Tom HunterTom Hunter is famous for capturing the lives of East London. His work mostly is based on documenting the life of Hackney and depicting local issues sensationalist news headlines. in 2010 he screened 'A place for us' it is a film representing the residents of a public building in Wood-bury. He has also released many books, but on of books has the name of 'The Way Home' and even 'Living In Hell.' He used to live a community where people were seen as squatters and he based he work on taking photos around it showing what they have to live like. Tom also uses quite everyday scenes in his work, but uses the choice of lighting carefully e.g. sun light through window, sunset, street lights and many more different types of lighting. With the different lighting he uses it effects the colour of either a model or a room making the colour either bright and illuminate or dark and gloomy and this shows off the emotions that the people are experiencing and linking them in with the lighting that he creates. The different types of light he uses the different mood and meaning towards the image. For example he creates not only photographs but paintings as well and also gives them a similar tone towards one another, since he changes the century they were placed, but does not change the lighting he keeps it the same.

This one of his main works it is known for the title 'Hide and Seek' and in this you can see that Tom Hunter has used the lighting from the sun light piercing through the branches and trees. I think the meaning of this image is indicating this could be bringing 'hide and seek' back into the image. Its showing the girl does not want to be found since her facial expression does not show either happiness or sadness, so he could showing the girl is lost, but she free with no wait on her shoulders, which the sun gleaming through the branches indicates she could just want to be a free spirit by the way shes effortlessly swinging on the root of a tree. Each of his images has a different story towards and the different images he takes the more genres of stories he creates. He shows the sadness, horror, happiness, loneliness and even the rich and poor, The similarity his photographs have with his paintings is that he recreates his photography work into paintings but makes them look accent or even in a different time period showing how different it can be.
